CLASSES
Ballet
This style of dance focuses on teaching strong technique. Ballet is the most formal style of dance. It teaches dancers technique, discipline, strength, flexibility and coordination.
DRESS CODE (Ballet): We ask that the females wear a leotard and ballet-pink tights with pink ballet shoes. Student in Ballet I may wear a ballet skirt. Students in Ballet II or III may not wear a skirt or shorts. Hair must be in a neat bun. Males: Solid colored fitted t-shirt, black running leggings, white/black socks. SHOES: Girls – Pink Ballet shoes. Boys – Black Ballet shoes
Jazz
This style is fun and energetic. It involves jumps, leaps, and turns to upbeat rhythms. Inspired by soul, funk, blues and swing.
DRESS CODE (Jazz): We ask that females wear a leotard or dance top and shorts with flesh colored tights. Student may also wear dance shorts or jazz pants. Hair must be pulled back. Males: Solid colored t-shirt, black running leggings, white/black socks. SHOES: Flesh colored jazz boot.
Acro
Acro emphasizes flexibility and lines of the body. Students will also learn acrobatic tricks, strength, and teamwork.
DRESS CODE (ACRO): We ask that females wear a dance top, leotard with dance shorts or they may wear a biketard, but all require flesh colored convertible tights. Hair must be pulled back. Males: Athletic shirt, pants.
SHOES: Barefoot
Tap
This style focuses on rhythm and musicality. Students learn to tap to the beat of the music with intricate footwork and choreography.
DRESS CODE (Tap): We ask that females wear a leotard or dance top and shorts with flesh colored tights. Student may also wear dance shorts or jazz pants. Hair must be pulled back. Males: Athletic shirt, jazz pants/shorts. SHOES: 3-5 yr olds: Tan Mary Jane style Tap shoes. Tap I and above: Tan lace up tap shoes.
Contemporary*
Contemporary is a fusion of ballet, jazz and modern techniques It involves emotional portrayals, interpretations of music and steps, strong control of the body. It also involves required improv work. Contemporary is a fairly new and constantly growing style.
*Must be actively taking Ballet to take contemporary.
DRESS CODE (Contemporary): We ask that students wear a leotard or dance top and shorts with flesh colored tights. Hair must be pulled back. Males: Athletic shirt, running leggings. SHOES: Barefoot
Hip Hop
Hip Hop is made up of several different styles such as pop n lock, house, krumping and breaking. This style has an urban/street feel and requires lots of energy. This class will build endurance, precision and bring out each dancer's own style.
DRESS CODE (Hip Hop): We ask that student wear leotard, t-shirt, or dance top with dance pants or sweat pants. Please no denim/khaki. Pants are required for sliding or floorwork. Hair must be pulled back. Please no street shoes. Shoes must be fleixble and be mid or high tops. Please no Converse style shoes. Please keep them clean as to not damage the dance floor.
